A Training meeting of the Board of Trustees of Aledo ISD will be held May 19, 2008,

Both Aledo school bond issues passed in voting Saturday, May 10.
Proposition 1, a bond package of 59,060,000, passed 1315-926,

Proposition 2, a smaller package of $7,965,000, passed 1353-873.

In school board races, incumbent Connie Suchocki was defeated by David Davis 1107-766. In place 7, incumbent Leanne Osgood held off challenger Jay Stringer, 1012-960.

VOTEVoters head to the polls Saturday for a variety of issues, including an alcohol sales option in Hudson Oaks, city council races in Willow Park, A school bond and trustee election in the Aledo ISD, and a mayor’s race and economic development sales tax in Aledo. Voting times Saturday, May 10 are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations:

Ladycats to play Sherman in weekend series

The Aledo Ladycats' softball team, ranked #1 in state 4-A polls and #3 nationally, will play Sherman for the area championship in a "home-and-home" series beginning Friday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Sherman. The second game will be Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m. in Aledo. A third game, if necessary, will be played immediately after the second game on Saturday.

Night at the Pops set for Friday

Join the Aledo High School Wind Ensemble and guests for the fourth annual Night at the Pops on Friday, April 25. Night at the Pops is an evening full of cool music and special effects sure to entertain even the toughest crowd. The concert will be held in the Aledo High School auditorium at 7 pm on Friday, April 25, and again on Saturday, April 26. Prepare yourself for a stunning array of music, media, and special effects that your family should not miss! Due to last year’s overwhelming crowd attendance, this year the band is offering the opportunity to reserve your seat ahead of time for a donation of $5 and up for the night of your choice. Correction - Aledo Academic Booster Club

Last week’s notice in The Community News about the next meeting of the Aledo Athletic Booster Club was in error. The notice should have referred to the Aledo Academic Booster Club, which will met on March 11 at 7 p.m. in room 109 at Aledo High School. The next Athletic Booster Club meeting is Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the Aledo High School Field House. We regret the error.
