State Rep. Phil King fended off a challenge from former Weatherford Mayor Joe Tison in Republican primary voting today. King carried Parker County with 64.46 percent of the vote, 9,644 to Tison's 5,317. District-wide, King tallied 13,460 votes to Tison's 7,103.
The other hotly-contested county-wide race was taken by Marjorie King, who won her old job back from Larry Lippincott in the contest for Tax Assessor-Collector. King received 7,393 votes (53.06 percent) to Lippincott's 6,540.
