After a lengthy executive session at its regular city council meeting on Monday, Nov. 17, the Willow Park city council issued raises for three of the cities staff members in a tie vote that was broken by mayor Marvin Glasgow.
Hale Alderman made a motion to raise city administrator Candy Scott’s salary by $5,000, which was seconded by Ken Hawkins. Council members Barry Brown and Barry Tatum opposed the motion. Glasgow broke the split with a vote in favor of awarding the increase to Scott.
Alderman made a second motion to raise city secretary Yael Hoffman’s salary by $5,000, which was also seconded by Ken Hawkins. Council members Brown and Tatum once again opposed the motion, which was broken by Glasgow’s vote to award the increase to Hoffman.
Brown said he personally felt that salary increases came a little too soon.
