Bettinger named District 6-4A MVP

In a vote of league coaches, Bettinger was the unanimous choice for District 6-4A's Most Valuable Player. Bettinger finished the 14-match district slate with a league-high 188 kills. Also earning top district honors were junior Tara Gough (Co-Setter of the Year) and sophomore hitter Jordan Jacobs (Newcomer of the Year). Aledo senior hitter Allie Bettinger was unanimously chosen as District 6-4A's Most Valuable Player for the 2008 season. Bettinger recorded a league-high 188 kills while also firing a team-high 29 aces. She was also second on the team in digs with 167 and had 12 blocks.

Ladycats junior Tara Gough earned a Co-Setter of the Year top honor after leading the league with 352 assists.

Sophomore Jordan Jacobs was selected Newcomer of the Year. The middle hitter was tied for fourth on the team in kills and led AHS in blocks with 35.

Also, head coach Kathy Goings was named Coach of the Year.

Earning all-district first-team honors were senior hitters Blaire Fowler and Abby Tomas, with senior hitter Addie Mantooth (team leader in digs with 176) garnering second-team honors.

And, the Aledo back row of seniors Jessica Yeager, Caitlin Cole and Jenna Yeager each earned an honorable mention.
