Ladycats sweep Denton Guyer
Aledo senior hitter Allie Bettinger ripped a match-high 17 kills and added a career-best 14 digs to help the state-ranked No. 6 Ladycats to a 25-16, 26-24, 25-15 victory over Denton Guyer Tuesday night at the AHS gym. The win lifts the Ladycats to 16-6. AHS is on a roll. The Ladycats went 4-1 over the weekend at the Frisco tournament, where they placed second, and Bettinger was named to the all-tournament team. Bettinger, who also recorded six aces, was not the only Ladycat to reach double figures in digs as Addie Mantooth recorded 11 digs, with Caitlin Cole nearly reaching double figures with nine. The Ladycats' hitters were aided by a solid performance by junior Tara Gough, who registered a match-high 27 assists. Read the complete story in the Sept. 5 issue of The Community News.
