Aledo senior hitter Allie Bettinger elevates high for a kill during the Ladycats' 25-18, 25-14, victory over Mesquite Poteet Saturday morning at the Northwest Tournament. The Ladycats were 4-2 in the tournament, including wins over Poteet and Longview Pine Tree to claim fifth place in the consolation bracket.

Aledo will play next at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Southlake Carroll.

Aledo sophomore hitter Jordan Jacobs made a bold statement after the Ladycats fell in their opener in the consolation bracket Friday night to Woodlands College Park.
"We did not play up to our potential," she said. "That will change (Saturday)."

Jacobs was correct. The Ladycats blew out East Texas power Longview Pine Tree, 25-13, 25-20, and won in resounding fashion in the fifth-place consolation bracket match, 25-18, 25-14, over Mesquite Poteet.

The Ladycats went 2-1 in Friday's pool play, defeating Keller Central (25-21, 25-19) and Wichita Falls High School (25-22, 22-25, 25-12) before falling to Lake Travis (25-16, 19-25, 25-17).

Although tied with Central and Lake Travis with 2-1 marks in pool play, the Ladycats lost a points tiebreaker to place third and a spot in the consolation bracket.
