Update: City Administrator Ken Pfeifer reports that power to some homes in the Rolling Hills Subdivision closest to the point of today's accident will not have power restored until about 8 p.m.

A large portion of the City of Aledo, including The Community News' office, was without electrical power for about six hours on Monday. Power was shut down when a truck struck a utility pole on Scenic Drive. The outage affected not only homes and businesses in the area, but also disrupted service to two of Aledo's water wells, leaving some residents with little or no water availability.

Aledo City Administrator Ken Pfeifer said the city had generators at sewer plants to keep service available. At this posting some of the city remains without power, although one of the well sites has had power completely restored, and the other has partial power.

The disruption also affected a wire on utility poles at the site of Town and Country Bank, necessitating further repairs.

We will post an update when power has totally been restored to all parts of the city.
