Worker in trench collapse flown to hospital
A trench collapsed on a contract worker with DT Utilities in Hudson Oaks this afternoon at the corner of Oakridge Drive and Inspiration Drive. The worker was in a trench installing a sewer line when the trench collapsed on him. He was trapped in the trench for approximately three hours. The worker was extracted at approximately 3:15 p.m. and flown by Careflite for medical attention. "The good news is that the worker is out and on his way to the hospital on the helicopter," Hanna said. "He has full movement of all four appendages, and he was actually making jokes before being flown to the hospital. We think he will probably be all right, and that is good news. We will not release the worker's name because have not made contact with his wife, yet. We are just glad he is alive."
