Helen Lee Etta Edwards
Helen Lee Etta Edwards, 93, died at Veranda Place on Friday, May 23, 2008.
Helen was born on August 30, 1914, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy Cain. She was raised in El Dorado, Kan., where she graduated from high school and worked in the city’s only drug store.
Following marriage in 1940 to O. Dean Edwards, they traveled five years for the Joe R. Horrigan Pipeline Construction Company throughout the Midwest and eastern United States.
In 1949, the couple purchased a ranch north of Aledo, and were very active in the Aledo Methodist Church and the Aledo schools.
Edwards is survived by daughter, Peggy and husband, Wally Tucker, of Santo; two grandchildren, Kim Putman and husband, Jerry, of Brock, and Tim Tucker and wife, Kim, of Houston; two great grandsons, Joshua and Micah Putman; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Susan, and sisters Eleanor Songer and “Chubby” Breen.
Private graveside services were held for the family at Brown Cemetery in Aledo.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that friends consider a contribution in Edwards’ name to Gill Children’s Services, 1020 Summit Avenue, Fort Worth 76102.
Arrangements were made by White’s Funeral Home Weatherford.
