Ladycats reach regional finals with 12-0 win

The Aledo Ladycats pounded out 16 hits, including a walk-off, game-winning home run by senior third baseman Haylee Bell, en route to a 12-0 victory over Wolfforth Frenship Friday night in the regional softball semifinals at Abilene Christian University.
The game was called after Bell's home run in the bottom of the fifth inning due to run rule.
The Ladycats will face District 8-4A rival Joshua in the regional finals.

Times and dates will be announced here when the information becomes available this weekend.

Aledo senior pitcher Whitney Canion (28-0) fired a one-hitter with no walks and 11 strikeouts in five innings.
Bell's homer, which gave her a game-high four runs batted in, was one of four Ladycat extra-base hits. Lyndi Samuelson added a triple to go along with a pair of singles, and sophomore catcher Easton Cook ripped a double and added a pair of base hits. The other extra-base hit came from senior right fielder Katie Denny, who crossed the plate on Bell's blast. Canion (two singles), junior second baseman K.K. Pittman (two singles), junior left fielder Andi Shahan (two singles) and senior first baseman Christina Kelley (two singles) also had multi-hit games.
