The North Central Texas Council of Governments held a public meeting at the Aledo High School auditorium on Monday, March 17, to give local residents an update about the prospects of transportation improvements in the area.

Mike Morris, NCTCOG Director of Transportation, said his organization has provided some initial help by helping provide installation of signal lights at the FM 1187-Interstate 20 intersection. Morris said there will be additional improvements coming up involving the installation of more sophisticated timed signals at the intersection.

Chris Reed, Senior Transportation Planner, and Jeff Neal, Program Manager, discussed the Parker County Multimodal Transportation Study, and described some possible Aledo-area projects. Neal also gave an overview of the regional outer loop and freight rail bypass study.
