State Rep. Phil King (R-Weatherford) explained recent legislation passed to provide property tax relief to the state's property owners at the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce luncheon July 12 at Jubilee Trailhouse in Willow Park.
The legislature passed HB1, which reduces school property tax by 17 cents in 2007 and by another 33 cents in 2008. HB2 dedicates all new revenue to reducing school property tax rates, and HB3 enacts a revised business tax to replace the "loophole ridden" Franchise Tax in Texas.
