The East Parker County Chamber of Commerce is teeing up some golf balls and hitting the links with its inaugural golf tournament on Thursday, May 10 at Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo.
The four-man “Florida Scramble” tournament will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
Entry will be $300 per team or $100 per person. The tournament has room for 36 teams or 144 golfers. Thus far, more than 15 teams have registered. There is no deadline to register.
The top three teams will win awards. There will also be a cash hole, a poker run, putting contest and longest drive.
In addition to the golf, there will be door prizes, including cash rewards, a 4-wheeler and a trip for two to Las Vegas. Dinner will be served after the tournament.
“We want to make it a community event that we can all get together and have some fun and make some money at the same time,” Tammy Gullion, one of the event organizers, said.
The chamber has also added another event to the day. A helicopter will drop more than 350 golf balls above a hole after the tournament and the six balls closest to the hole will each win $500. The chamber is selling numbered golf balls for $10 apiece to participate in the drop.
