Annetta, Annetta North, Annetta South and Hudson Oaks – intrigued enough by initial discussions during a Feb. 28 workshop – continue to explore the possibility of a merge, scheduling a second joint consolidation workshop.
The mayors and councils of the four east Parker County cities agreed: they want to hear more.
“We heard enough that we at least want to continue discussions,” Hudson Oaks Mayor Pat Deen said during a city council meeting last Thursday, March 22. “It’s simply a continuation and exploring it further.”
The workshop is scheduled for Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at Annetta City Hall.
The Hudson Oaks City Council voted unanimously to be included as part of the discussions, but not without some hesitation first.
Council member Gary Molenburg, returning to an issue he addressed at the February workshop, said he doesn’t see what the City of Hudson Oaks has to gain from consolidation.
He eventually relented from his stance and agreed to the workshop.
“If we stop it now, we deny our residents the option,” Council member Bill Young said.
Deen said he hopes a third workshop could be held in Hudson Oaks.
Annetta City Hall is located at 1200 Old Annetta Road.
