Willow Park rebukes Deer Creek purchase offer

Calls city’s acquisition of water system ‘complete’

The City of Willow Park added a new wrinkle to the battle over Deer Creek Water Works (DCWW) this week, adopting a policy statement during the council meeting Tuesday, May 15 that rejects an offer made to purchase the embattled water system.
After a 24-minute executive session, departing Mayor Brad Johnson read a prepared statement about the issue detailing the city’s stance.

Hudson Oaks to cosign Deer Creek purchase contract

Deal may now be agreeable

A new development emerged in the seemingly endless story about Deer Creek Water Works (DCWW) this week, placing the matter back into Willow Park’s hands.
In hopes of ending a delay in progress to discussions and finalizing an agreement, Hudson Oaks held a special council meeting Monday, April 16 and agreed to cosign the contract for Parker County Utility District No. 1 (PCUD) to purchase the embattled water system from Willow Park.

Focus of merger talks adjusted

Consolidation talks between Annetta, Annetta North, Annetta South and Hudson Oaks took a different turn this week as discussions have been revamped and could now focus on two separate mergers between the four east Parker County municipalities.
Future discussions are likely to focus on the possibility of a merge between Hudson Oaks and Annetta North and a merge between Annetta and Annetta South.

Merging on the mind

Hudson Oaks, Annettas discuss consolidation

The towns of Annetta, Annetta North, Annetta South and the City of Hudson Oaks took a preliminary step toward consolidation during a workshop meeting last Wednesday, Feb. 28, discussing the need to prepare for future growth and meet surface water demands.
The councils urged their residents to express their opinions on the matter and give the cities feedback.

Marijuana, alcohol seized from teens

Five area teenagers were detained by Parker County sheriff’s deputies Saturday morning, Jan. 13 after deputies seized alcohol and marijuana from the vehicle they occupied.

According to a sheriff’s report, Aledo Deputy K. Lanham observed all five of the youths sitting in a pick up behind the Stuard Elementary School in the 200 block of Thunderhead Lane shortly after midnight. Lanham said he noticed them moving around inside the cab, and appeared to be concealing contraband upon his approach. One of the teens reportedly admitted they were hiding beer. The Deputy observed a number of unopened beer cans under the seats of the truck and on the floorboard and noticed the odor of marijuana inside the cab.
